Origin story:
Tron was programmed by Alan Bradley in 1980 and implemented in 1982, when he assisted hacker Kevin Flynn in stopping the out of control Master Control Program. When Flynn accidentally created The Grid, a digital world populated by programs which was accessible via a specialized console, he imported a copy of Tron to protect The Grid. Flynn also created a copy of himself, named Clu, who was given the task of creating the perfect system, and together the they developed the digital civilization of The Grid. Tron was given a team of programs to assist him in maintaing peace an order.

Eventually, The Grid created a new type of being which was neither a user or program. These isomorphic algorithms, known as ISOs, were seen as a threat to the status quo of the grid. Soon after they're arrival, many riots and protests erupted, as the programs already living on The Grid did not want the ISOs entering their neighborhoods and cities. During one of these incidents, Tron's good friend Dyson was injured, leaving him with scars and causing him to despise all ISOs. While Flynn found the arrival of the ISOs as an incredible opportunity to increase knowledge of the digital world and was pushing for the programs to accept them, Clu saw them as a threat to the perfect system he was designed to create. Clu eventually turned against Flynn, and Tron sacrificed his freedom in order for the user to escape.

Clu, unable to create new programs, developed a way of repurposing them to serve his vision. He was also able to repair to damage Dyson received in the ISO incident, after which Dyson changed sides and became one of Clu's most elite lieutenants. With Dyson's help, Clu repurposed all of Tron's team, though because the system was imperfect and destroyed much of the program's personality, declined to use it on Tron himself. Instead, Tron was tortured by Dyson, leaving him with significant injuries and scars similar to those Dyson himself had sustained in the riot. With the help of a rogue soldier serving who rebeled against Dyson and Clu, Tron was able to escape and created a secret base in the outlands off the outskirts of a remote city on The Grid, Argon.

Years later, Clu's armies reached Argon and began a hostile occupation. In their initial arrival, many innocent programs were derezzed for speaking out against the soldiers. This drove one young program to take on the identity of Tron, who was long considered dead, and strike back against Clu's forces. His initial attempt was nearly disastrous, and he would have been captured by the soldiers if Tron hadn't saved him. Disguised as one of Clu's soldiers, Tron interrogated Beck, confirming Beck's commitment to the cause and his drive to continue acting in Tron's name. Tron decided to train him, provided Beck with the skills he would need to become a figurehead and eventually lead a revolution against Clu.

While assisting Beck on a mission to stop Clu's forces from taking over Argon, Tron became entangled in a bug which transported him to the physical world. After the initial shock of being thrown into a significantly more chaotic world (not to mention brighter), Tron was approached by CONDOR and with their help was able to stabilize the glitch and return to The Grid. However, due to the continued threat of Clu's forces, Tron and Beck decided it would be better for him to hide out where Clu couldn't find him. Since it was still possible for infrastructure of The Grid to be manipulated from the outside, Tron took on the identity Lightline to prevent hackers from altering his digital program. Tron eventually joined the Alpha Force, occasionally returning to Argon to support the growing uprising, and has been serving on the team for the past 3 years.

Personality:
Having spent the past several decades in hiding from Clu's forces, living on the outskirts of society and hunted down, Tron is somewhat untrusting and suspicious of others on first contact. He's supportive of people who share his mission, but it takes a lot to gain his trust, and longer to be considered a friend. He still does his best not to get too close to anyone, having already lost many friends and allies to Clu (the loss of the other Alpha Force members hit him pretty hard, though he has done a pretty good job of hiding it). Once he's opened up to people Tron has quite a sarcastic sense of humor

Tron is very protective of young people who show enthusiasm for helping others. He's become a bit of an unofficial mentor to many superheroes just starting out, in some hope that his assistance will help keep them from meeting an unfortunate end. He frequently drops by the Trailblazers base to offer training sessions, but he has a special soft spot for vigilantes (having a little too much personal experience with corrupt authoritarian powers) and will often go out of his way to offer them support, though officially he is supposed to try and get them to register. As a teacher he is extremely demanding and is not easy to please, but always offers sound advice and guidance.

The similarity between programs on The Grid and users/humans makes it pretty easy for Tron to deal with people, but he is really uneasy and squeamish about blood and pretty much organic biology in general. He is totally useless if someone is hurt and tends to lose his cool a bit.

Differences from canon:
Unlike canon, Tron is able to move between The Grid and the physical world, and is able to do so at will.

Power level: A
Powers:
As living computer program, Tron has the ability to travel across digital networks, including the ability to travel to and from The Grid from any computer. As an elite security officer, Tron has extensive combat training. He is able to use his identity disk as a weapon, the edges of which can be superheated to melt through other objects, and which will automatically return to him when thrown. Unlike most programs, Tron can split it disk into two halves, allowing him to dual wield his disk.

Tron also brought a few other devices with him from The Grid, including his lightcycle and lightjet, both of which compress down to a baton which he carries with him at all times. Activating the batons materialized the transports, both of which are specialized for speed and maneuverability. With these Tron can create a light trail which acts as a solid barrier which fades over time.

Team affiliation: Alpha Force

[message to Princess Celestia, directly following the disappearance of the other Alpha Force members]

I’ve been searching data on The Grid for cycles, so far I haven’t found any intel on what happened to our friends. And no one seems to be taking credit for their disappearance either. I assumed it would be the work of TRIDENT, but there would have been chatter by now, so I have no more of an idea of their whereabouts as anyone else.

I’ll be returning from The Grid soon. With the other gone I can be of more use there. I’ll have some programs continue searching the digital networks from here. We have a commitment to keep people safe, and we must remain focused on that objective. We will find our friends, but our mission comes first.
